We've all had to cut weight, Whether it's a jiu-jitsu tourny, a fight, or a wrestling match, we have all done it. Cutting sucks. sitting in a sauna in what could be summed ;up as a homeless guys winter attire, it just blows. The dieting leading up to it also sucks in its own right. The thing that has always bothered me though is at what age do you just start walking around a locker room or sitting in a sauna naked? The first place I ever went to cut 3 years ago had a male lockeroom and sauna. I saw more old man sagging anatomy in there then you could watch in a 24 hour seniors porn marathon. I didn't really care at first because everyone in there was rocking the same anatomy but what got to me was when they would want to have conversations while buck ass naked. It would always start with " Oh whats with all the clothes in here?" Response was " I"m just trying to lose a few pounds." This small exchange would lead to them talking about wrestling when they were my age and cutting weight. Dear sweet God, I'm pissed off, hungry and thirsty so making new friends is already not on my list and having this particular talk while you're business is flopping around like a beached dolphin is not adding to my experience. After leaving the sauna I would go sit down and WHAM there is another naked 75 old guy looking to ask same questions under same circumstances. Eff this noise.
In general I, like most, become an ass while cutting. Thus making small talk is hard enough with other occupants. Having to hear their opinions on what I'm doing just about makes me want to run my head into the wall until I cease to exisist. No longer do I give anyone an honest answer as to why I am wearing the Derelict Line ( Zoolander reference) in a damn sauna. I now tell that I am preparing to become a professional jockey and I need to lose weight to ride my horse. Or I'll tell them that due to low self confidence I am constantly attempting to stay skinny due to a rough elementary school teasing years ago. These answers tend to allow people the chance to back away slowly and go about their days.
But the light at the end of the tunnel is doing all this to fight, which I love more than anything else, excluding my family and dog. Makes the fight more real, the last step before doing that one thing that makes me happier than anything else. In that same breath I want to thank MTX Audio for helping me to be able to do all this. Jason Genet and Chris Martinez for their support as well. Performance MMA for their support too. Everyone at Gumms and all who are helping to get me to a place where I can be able to fight and not have anything else to worry about. Thanks you all
